A Ruckus At Lie-Nielsen Event

Theres going to be a some unruliness at this years Lie-Nielsen show held at the Magazine shop on April 15th and 16th. I know this because I plan to cause the ruckus.

Lie-Nielsens show is about hand tools the company, as well as the other exhibitors at the show, make fantastic tools as you well know. However, at the upcoming event, I plan to run and operate a few power tools. (Ill bet Tom and Deneb just raised their respective eyebrows.)

Heres the deal. I will be demonstrating hand-cut, dovetails Saturday morning. The traditional hand-cut method will be demonstrated by me using a dovetailsaw, chisels, and a mallet. But to take advantage of this opportunity to hock my Cheating at Hand-cut Dovetails DVD, Ill also demonstrate how I power-up dovetails without sacrificing the hand-cut look.

This is an additional bonus. One method Im an advocate for when working with large panels is to use a jigsaw to cut the pins and tails. Festool revealed new tools for 2011 and gave us a glimpse at Carvex, Festools latest jigsaw. (Read more here). This type of work is best suited for the angled base, which is the most original jigsaw design. Festool offered to provide a Carvex, even though it was due for release on June 1. They agreed. If you stop by the event, youll not only get the opportunity to ask about and use great hand tools, youll also get a chance to see and operate Festools new jigsaw.
